Gyro - which is pronounced "Jai-Roh" by New Yorkers, "Yee-Roh" by Greeks, and "That Wrap Thingy" by Minnesotans are wonderful hand-held offerings of lamb, tomatoes, onions, and tazatziki (cucumber yogurt) sauce, served in a warm pita. I lived near Chicago's Greek Town for several years and have probably eaten my body weight in Gyros several times over. This place ranks right up there with the best I have eaten. If you are on the hungry side I would recommend the Lamb over Rice combo which is a great deal and very filling. They also one of the only places in town that offer falafel which is very tasty. The prices are very reasonable, the service is always friendly and fast, and the food is amazing. I hope that St. Cloud embraces this local business as it is far better than any chain restaurant.

I just had my first lunch at NY Gyro (lamb and rice, salad and samosas). It was all delicious. The sauce used on the samosas was particularly good. This place will be one of my regular lunch visits.

Ewwwwww! It wouldnt let me select no stars.Dirty, nasty and certainly not authentic as some reviews say! Meat was so dry and they had it pre chopped, not sliced but chopped and refused to slice fresh meet off the spick. It was so salty and dry it almost tasted like jerky. Workers were very rude and did I mention it was dirty?!?!

We didn't expect to find this authentic food in St. Cloud. Stumbled upon the restaurant and are extremely glad we stopped in. Friendly staff helped us order in the next meat platter with lamb chicken rice and vegetables was fantastic! Tender lamb and chicken flavorful rice and crisp veggies made a great meal. We will definitely be coming back!

I should have posted a picture but I gobbled my meal too quickly! I had a lamb pita and a beef samosa. Fabulous! I love the selection of fresh toppings to put on the gyros. Great prices for the portion given. Great spices in the meat. A great place for a casual lunch or dinner!

Stumbled upon this great restaurant! Never thought I'd find a great Mediterranean restaurant in Minnesota. The staff was more than helpful in helping us choose The food. We had a wonderful mixed platter with lamb and chicken it was wonderful. It came with A very savory rice and then add vegetables. I will return here without a second hesitation.

Friendly staff, very good food. More than worth the price, very large portions. I tried the lamb gyro and it tastes very similar to the food carts in nyc. My paki family tried the rice and chicken and loved it.

I am in Saint Cloud Anywhere that is not chain? OMG! Found one! Saint Cloud has to be the chain capital of America. There are a few establishments downtown that are local, but get outside of that and you will be hard pressed to find anything that does not have more than one location. Was looking for a late lunch and happened to stumble across this place. Right near the Saint Cloud State Campus. Menu is up on the wall and kind of vague. Told the guy at the counter that I just want some type of gyro combo. He suggested doing a lamb and chicken gyro. They are not afraid to load up on the meat here! After the lamb and chicken were piled on, they have an add-on veggie station. Went with just lettuce and banana peppers as the thing was already filled to the gills with lamb and chicken. Also, got the tzatziki sauce on it. Delish, but messy! I will definitely be back when I am up in the Cloud again.

OMG! I love this place! I can't stop thinking about the food! This is a casual place with a friendly staff :). I was returning to Minneapolis when I decided to stop and drive through St. Cloud and find a place to eat. Zabihah.com listed this place as a business that serves halal food. I thought I'd get a gyro or something and then go back on my. I was shocked to find pretty authentic, delicious food. Maybe because I had such low expectations. Who would have thought a small place that's not in a big metro area, that has a funny name, and a Statue of Liberty out front has pretty good food?! Sounds ignorant, but I assumed the place would serve watered down Middle Eastern food. Instead I found a place that was hoping with college students and serves mostly South Asian (Indian/Pakistani type food). The menu consisted of samosas, biryani, chapli kabab, burgers, nuggets, chicken and lamb kabobs, fish burgers, gyros, falafel, etc. This was some of the best food I've had in a long time. It kind of reminded me of home. Some dishes are comparable to homecooked meals and food found in New York and the Bay Area. I got samosas, the combo platter, and a drink for about $11. The portions are generous and lasted me a couple of meals. I am sure if I wasn't being so greedy, I could have made the food last longer lol. I thought I'd probably never be back here again because I thought it'd be my first and last time in St. Cloud, but I am hoping and praying something brings me back up here hahah. I don't think I've ever had such a strong reaction to a place before. I definitely sound like I have an obsession lol. I guess it was that good :). Great food, great prices, and great portions.

The food seemed more Middle Eastern African than Greek. The menu items were listed as "pita" not Gyro. The menu also seemed a bit confused with pitas, hamburgers, and chicken wings. I also had a Yelp check in deal for a free pop with purchase of $6.99 or more. The workers seemed to be thrown by it and were not sure how to handle it. I was also a bit grossed out that the cashier was wearing plastic gloves as he used the cash register. I only hope he changed gloves after taking my cash.

It's so hard to find anything other than chain restaurants in St. Cloud so it's nice to have this as a choice. When I'm wanting something fast, I always stop by NY Gyro. My favorite go to is the combo platter. It comes with rice, your choice of veggies, and lamb and chicken. Don't forgot to top it with the sauces. I've just started calling them the white, red, and green sauce and they never correct me with the right names. :) portions are really good! The guys are really nice too.

Yum! I'm so glad I stopped in. I don't live in St. Cloud anymore but I was happy to see a Mediterranean place had moved in to replace Subway. I loooove Mediterranean food and was glad I got to sample some during my visit to town. The menu includes gyros, pitas, and rice dinner plates, along with traditional American offerings like burgers and fries. I was planning on having falafel but the pictures of it on the menu looked scary - like factory formed hockey pucks. I decided to order them anyway and was happy to see that the falafel served here was not like the menu picture at all. In fact, it was made to order (well.. deep fried to order anyway). I had the falafel and rice dish which includes a huge helping of rice with 6 falafel on top, and a hefty helping of vegetables of your choice. The vegetables were presented nicely and seemed to be very fresh and were delicious. Both my guest and I had a generous amount of peppers served to us, so NY Gyro wasn't trying to stick us with a bunch of lettuce and cheap stuff. The rice was very yummy and was pretty much what you would expect from a Mediterranean place. I really enjoyed the cumin seed. If you haven't caught on yet, the portions are giant! Everything comes in a styrofoam sectioned box so leftovers are easily carried out. This place will feed the hungriest of customers one meal and those with normal appetites can extend this across two or more meals. Not bad for ~$6. One great thing about huge portions at this place is that the food is healthy (or at least relatively so) so you don't feel like crap after having a big meal here. One final note.. a lot of the dishes / vegetable options include cilantro. If you can't stand cilantro you're going to have a tough time.

Perhaps the best fast food lamb/chicken I've had! The lamb pieces are tender and well prepared with the right amount of spices. And it's pretty authentic. Highly recommended!

The food is amazing. They are patient in explaining the food, if you are not familiar. I got the lamb gyro 3 days in a row. They didn't mind customizing it for me. The last day, my husband got the lamb and rice plate and he said it was just as good. The pita and white sauce were fabulous!!!!!!! My husband added the hot sauce for kick and loved it.

Oh man--the lamb gyro is the best in the area...LOVE IT. Fries, at $1.45 are HUMUNGOUS portions. However, I did noticed one of the employees cleaning up by wiping down the counters with a wet white bar towel. Nice. Until he got to the "veggie" part of the line, where he used the same wet bar towel to push spilled pieces of lettuce, tomato, onion, peppers, etc. back into their containers--these are the same ones they dish onto the food. Gross. I'm gonna have a hard time avoiding this place.

The aroma upon entering is wonderful. The meals are simple, delicious, filling and inexpensive. I ordered the fish tikka and my wife had lamb with rice. The portions are huge. And the price is great - $15 for both. My one concern is that the place needs a serious cleaning. A serious cleaning.
